Open Farm Sunday 2015!

Bring your herd along to the annual Open Farm Sunday event, more than 350 farms across England, Scotland and Wales will open their gates to the public for various activities on Sunday 7th June!

Open Farm Sunday is one of the farming industry’s biggest success stories. Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006 over 1000 farmers across the UK have opened their gates and welcomed people onto their farm for one Sunday each year.

It is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first hand what it means to be a farmer and the fabulous work they do producing the food we eat and managing the countryside!

Take time to listen to the birds, soak up the scenery, experience the smells of the farmyard and really get in touch with the land that feeds us. So come and feed your senses on Open Farm Sunday!

A visit to a farm is your chance to discover the story behind the fantastic food that farmers produce, from meat, milk, cheese and bread, to many of our favourite fruits and vegetables!

If you love gadgets then a visit to a farm on the 7th won’t disappoint either, as there’s plenty of machinery and technology to be seen, most importantly plenty of big tyres to look at!

To find out if your local farm is participating use this Farm Finder – it lists all the info for each farm’s event.

Each event is unique with its own activities – based around the farm’s own individual story. Activities during the day may include a farm walk, nature trail, tractor and trailer rides, pond dipping, activities for children, a mini farmers market or picnics.

Most are free to walk in (roughly 85%), but others will charge a fee (£1-£12) or ask for a donation. If no entrance fee is mentioned on the website it shouldn’t be charging – although it’s best to check with the farm.
